  0. Introduction

Software development is about how quickly we produce good business solutions; it's not about how much code we write. This insight comes from Ken Spencer and Billy Hollis at TechFusion 2004 in Raleigh. Those who pay for software not only want applications delivered on time, on target and on budget, they also want it for the lowest cost possible. .NET increases programmer productivity – but it is only a beginning. The Enterprise Developers Guild is an excellent way to receive technical education, meet with your peers and learn how to get more out of the latest Microsoft technologies and resources. Come to Guild meetings and learn how successful complex systems are built by integrating successful simple systems that solve specific tasks.

The Enterprise Developers Guild meets the FOURTH TUESDAY of every month, EXCEPT December, at the Microsoft Campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. Meetings are from 6 to 8 PM. Dinner is pizza and soft drinks, courtesy of our meeting host.

  1. Next Meeting

Join us Tuesday, June 23, at 6:00 PM in the Mt. Kilimanjaro Room at the Charlotte Microsoft Campus to hear how to take your tests to the next level by learning how to utilize an Isolation Framework to remove dependencies from your tests. Our speaker is Derik Whittaker, C# MVP, a member of the ASPInsiders group, and author/maintainer of DimeCasts.Net.

Developing for Dollars, our year-long focus on providing you with the skills to create successful applications and connecting you with the right organizations to make money from your work, continues. This session will walk through the progression of testing with an Isolation Framework. In the session we will learn how testing in isolation will help remove dependencies which are out of our scope so we are able to create cleaner, simpler and more manageable tests.

During this session we will starts off our journey with a review of testing using NUnit. We will then continue on by creating tests which do not isolate their dependencies in order to understand how highly coupled test can cause random failures during test runs. Finally we will end our journey by learning how to use an isolation framework (RhinoMocks) to decrease the coupling in our tests and increase test reliability. read more...

The meeting is sponsored by Logical Advantage, LLC.
